| Just a little news from last year's season... We witnessed the loss of a lot of pheasants due to the worst ice storm ever in Garden City. We cancelled several hunts and watched our bird population starve and freeze to death. With the change of the seasons, Mother Nature has provided at least two hatches this year. We are looking forward to an abundant harvest of birds this year! We have obtained more hunting ground, and are seeing large numbers of birds. We also have seen a growing quail population. The upcoming season should offer opportunities to limit out on a regular basis. We had our 2nd Annual Mitch Telinde Memorial Youth Hunt last March, and enjoyed all of the new faces, as well as the returning youth and sponsors. It is so rewarding to get to experience the outdoors with youth, some of who had never hunted before. Without the help of the contributors and sponsors, we realize this event would not have been possible. We thank each and every person who helps and participates in this yearly event, and look forward to next year's hunt. We have been asked to donate a hunt to returning Iraq veterans. We are proud to honor this request. As our small community has lost three soldiers, our plans are to make a memorial hunt named for all fallen soldiers from our community. We anticipate making this an annual event, and have already received promises of support from several local businesses. We will continue to post updates as the hunt preparations progress. |
